ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for entry, all materials must have been created (concepted) in the state of Virginia and either published, broadcast, posted, or distributed for the first time between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017.  Entries may originate from an individual or organization that has created, produced or directed the material.  The Advertising Club of Richmond may request proof of initial publication, airing, posting or distribution to be submitted before judging and/or inclusion in the show or show website.  Single entries may also be submitted as part of a campaign.

Public service entries may be submitted only in the Public Service Category.  The Advertising Club of Richmond and judges reserve the right to move entries to categories deemed more appropriate than those in which pieces were entered.

LEGAL

All entries become the property of the Advertising Club of Richmond, Inc and will not be returned.  The entrant grants the Advertising Club of Richmond the right to show, copy or play the entries for purposes of judging, displaying winning entries, publishing a website, and promoting the Richmond Show.

PRINT

Drop off all print entries by 5PM February 15, 2017 to:

Submit all entries mounted on black board with no less than a 1” boarder.  Pieces larger than 18” x 24” may be submitted unmounted.  Campaigns (at least 3 ads) may be mounted on one board or taped together accordion style.  Attach a printout of the entry information to the back of each board.  You’ll receive a link to this page in the submission confirmation email.

RADIO

Submit a URL link to each entry online in MP3 format at least 128 kbps or better quality. If the asset is protected please provide an access password in the link form.

TELEVISION

Submit a URL link to each entry online in QuickTime H.264 video at 1500 kbps, progressive, multi-pass with audio at 44.1 kHz, stereo. For 4:3 aspect ratio, please use 640 x 480 for output resolution. For 16:9 aspect ratio, please use 853 x 480 for output resolution. For any questions about this, please email Bart Thomas at bart.thomas@capitalone.com. Campaigns consist of at least 3 spots. Two 15 second commercials will not be considered as one commercial. If the asset is protected please provide an access password in the link form.

INTERACTIVE

Web entries must contain a URL that displays the work being submitted – the URL may represent a live site or a private site. Other entry types can include screen grabs or other presented in PNG, JPG, GIF or PDF format, as appropriate. If a URL asset is protected please provide an access password in the link form.

INTEGRATED ADVERTISING

    Includes single or multiple pieces and the container and its contents.  Dimensional also includes “pop-ups” that might mail flat, but take on dimension in their final forms.  Entries typically include some element/item (other than paper) as part of the marketing message (premium item, baseball, ink pen, etc.) which is included as PART of the message.  The method of shipment (box, envelope, etc.) MUST be evident and included with the entry.

      Outdoor display of advertising messages, notices or events, commonly associated with standardized wooden or metal structures that are delivered to mass (outdoor) audiences on sidewalks, streets, roadways, etc.  Also advertising placed inside/outside any vehicle, airport, mall etc.

  1. Broadcast-Radio

Radio advertising is defined as commercial audio (only) messages conveyed to the prospective/target consumer public by the seller of a product or service via mass media transmission.  Commercial messages which appear on digital streaming or Satellite radio services such as Pandora, Spotify or SiriusXM should be entered in the Online Video and Firm Category.

Within the Radio category, commercial aired on stations in more than one market or “metro” (even if placed on only one station in each of two “metros”) do not qualify as “local”.  Any time a commercial extends past one “metro” it is defined as regional/national and must be entered accordingly.  2-47 commercials for the same client, with a common theme that are placed in one market only (no more than one “metro”) are considered a campaign.  If placed in two different markets they do not qualify as a local campaign.
